Welcome to CUPAFS!

This is the Cardiff University Philosophy and Film Society. The society meets regularly to watch and debate films with specific focus given to the philosophical themes that its members choose to highlight. This blog is a record of past screenings and the essays and presentations given on those screenings. The blog is a celebration of the ‘kino eye’ and the idiosyncratic contributions contained within it follow the principles of imagination and analyses encapsulated by Dziga Vertov: “I am eye. I am a mechanical eye. I, a machine, am showing you a world the likes of which only I can see…My road is towards the creation of a fresh perception of the world. This I decipher in a new way the world unknown to you.”
